'The whole universe depends on everything fitting together just right. If one piece busts, even the smallest piece... the entire universe will get busted.' - Hushpuppy
In a forgotten but defiant community known as Bathtub in a southern Delta, cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, we experience this world through the eyes of 6-year old Hushpuppy. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality.
"Movies have the power to transform us. By paying close attention to our responses as we watch a film, we can discover new parts of ourselves and gain new insights -- frame by frame. We hope you will come and be part of this magic and mystery, and begin to look at movies and yourself in new ways," says Bree Brown, coordinator and discussion host of CSL-AH's Spiritual Film Series. "Having already seen this film I can say it is not-to-be-missed. It is truly an original - unpredictable, visceral, and touches deep into every human emotion."
After the film we'll gather to share the impact it has on us, our thoughts and insights. This is the way we walk the talk - sharing ideas of our everyday lives from a metaphysical perspective. join us!
This is one of a bimonthly Spiritual Film Series, led by Bree Brown. She is a member of CSL-AH, and coordinates another film discussion group here in San Francisco.
